We would love to see all the ways and places students read over the summer. You can take a photo of your student reading and email it to me. I will post their photo on the library website as well as in the library. I can't wait to see all the kids reading!
The summer slide is not a slide you want your children to be on. Here's a great article excerpt about the importance of reading with your child every day and how it will help to maintain their abilities. Think of it like practicing an instrument or a sport. If you don't practice for three months, you can fall really behind.
I am including a link to different summer reading lists for all different ages. Additionally, you can visit the library Pinterest site for lots of different book lists. It's located under the Resources tab. Just keep reading! Oh the Places You Can Read!
Students can have fun reading this summer in unusual ways and places. They have a checklist they can use to keep track of all the different ways such as while wearing a hat or under a tree. Please keep this checklist in a spot where they can check off the different places. Bring the checklist back during the first week of school for a small prize. The checklist is online here as well. |
